CrossbowPig Reviews Issue 4: Bullet Bill

Oh my goodness, I cannot stand it.
Welcome to CrossbowPig's reviews, issue #4. Today, we'll be reviewing the derivative flash game Bullet Bill, based off of the original Super Mario Bros for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Not only is this game the most infuriating of them all so far, it is also the only one so far that I have never actually beaten. This review will be based off of the first two or so levels. With that said, let's get into the review.

Graphics: Here we have sweet 8-bit rehashed graphics in all of their glory, ripped directly from the original Super Mario Bros. They look very rudimentary compared to the later Super Mario Bros games on the NES, but for this purpose they work well, as they've been slightly cleaned up. 8/10

Gameplay: This gameplay is even simpler than Pac-Man. Crash into brick blocks and Goombas for points, don't crash into the environment, make it to the end of the level, you'll be set. 7/10

Sound: For some reason, whoever made this game decided it would be a good idea to have Robot Rock by Daft Punk playing in the background on the title screen. Daft Punk is never mentioned again; instead the rest of the game's soundtrack is remixes of old Super Mario Bros songs. 8/10

Difficulty: Oh my goodness, I really both like and hate this game. The gameplay is completely trial and error based; a first time player is going to die, no questions asked. It's impossible to get all of the points in any given level, and the ability to move left and right on the screen is almost useless because of how slow it is. This game is Fiendishly Difficult.

Verdict: With all of these scores added up, and the factor of my own personal enjoyment added in, I calculated the score of this game through an incredibly complicated process and the result was a score of
8 - Enjoyable
If you don't take this game as seriously as I did, you'll have no trouble dealing with the constant dying and keyboard-flipping rage. If you can't do that, well...stay away.

This is CrossbowPig, signing out.
