The Dress

By now you've probably seen The Dress, which the entire internet has been freaking out over. The dress is proven to be blue and black. It's also blue and black in the picture, so why do some people see white and gold? No, your eyes aren't broken. Your friends' eyes aren't broken, there's a reason behind why you see the complete opposite color from someone else in the same picture.
It turns out, it has to do with both the picture, and how our eyes/brains process images. This image in particular, triggers a response from our eyes that makes us see different colors. Our brains are very good at filling in missing pieces of an image. When someone eyes focus on the dress directly, they see it as black and blue, but when they focus on the background, they fill in the rest of the picture subconsciously, sometimes having it appear as white and gold/somewhere in between. To put it simply, each of our eyes processes things in a slightly different way, and that small difference is making us see black and blue or gold and white. There are many times when we see things slightly differently, it's just with this specific picture, we see opposite ends of the spectrum, which is pretty amazing, but it's still nothing to freak out about.
